Sew a Sturdy Lined Tote Bag

Sew a Sturdy Lined Tote Bag

Hello! It’s a drizzly one out there today so I’m taking the opportunity to do a little sewing. This time I’m making a lined tote bag. You only need about half a metre of two fabrics for this one (and you’ll have a little left over for another project).

From both the outer fabric and the lining, cut two pieces measuring 14 x 14 inches. Also from the outer fabric, cut two pieces measuring 4 x 22 inches for the handles.

I’m using a glorious William Morris inspired print from the Yuletide Bloom range for the outer fabric, it’s called Hammersmith. The lining is from the same range and is called Willow Bough Navy. Aren’t they delicious!

I’m using black thread as the outer fabric has a background of black and the navy fabric can stand it.

You’ll need standard equipment, sewing machine, scissors, rotary cutter and mat if you have it, an iron and ironing board, ideally a heat erasable pen (but your favourite marking tool will also work as long as it can be ironed or washed away).

So, here’s the video!
