Beautiful Bookmarks

We all have them, those wonderful friends who prefer “proper books” to reading on electronic devices. Or even children who constantly have their head stuck in a book (this is a great thing by the way!!)

These beautiful little bookmarks can be whipped up in no time and make wonderful gifts for the bookworm in your life.

The fabrics and ribbon colours really don’t matter here, so use up some of those off-cuts of fabric!

Don’t forget, if you make one (or more!!) send us a photo as we’d love to see.

Happy Sewing!

Follow the instructions that came with your interfacing to attach each piece to the back of each piece of the fabric

Place both piece of fabric together (pin them if it helps you). Wrong sides need to be placed together (so both pieces of interfacing are touching). Sew around about 1/4 inch from all edges and if you plan to add ribbon, remember to leave a gap at one end big enough to slide the ribbon(s) in.

Now take your pinking shears and cut around the entire bookmark. This is best done before you add in the ribbon. This is simply choice – If you want a straight edged bookmark, just cut the edges of the fabric all the way around so they’re nice and tidy.

Carefully slide your ribbon(s) into the gap you left and sew them in place.
