Need a new sewing machine foot but don’t know what low or high shank means? And don’t know which your machine is? Follow this simple guide to figure it out.
Put the presser foot into the down position (like you’re about to sew).
Measure from the bed of the machine, to the middle screw holding the foot in place.
As you can see in the image, if the measurement is around half an inch, you rmachine is a low shank machine. If it is closer to one inch, it is a high shank machine. If however, the machine feet on your machine are slanted, you will need specific feet for that machine. The slanted feet are generally for specific models of Singer machines.
Snap on feet are the easiest to get on and off of your machine. If your machine didn’t come with an adapter, these are relatively cheap to purchase. We stock a low shank version here.
